Road2Recovery provides private alcohol rehabilitation through a structured 12 week outpatient programme in Crawford, Cape Town and online. Treatment uses cognitive behavioural therapy, motivational interviewing and relapse prevention, with medically supervised detox coordinated first where alcohol withdrawal carries physical risk.
Why alcohol needs medical care first
Alcohol is one of the few substances where stopping abruptly can be physically dangerous. Withdrawal at higher levels of dependency can produce seizures and requires medical supervision, which is why an honest assessment comes before anything else.
Where supervised detox is needed we coordinate it with qualified medical partners before therapy begins. Our GP and medical advisor is involved in that decision, so the sequencing is a clinical judgement rather than a guess.
Why alcohol is harder to step away from
Alcohol occupies a position no other substance does. It is present at work functions, family gatherings and most social occasions, and declining it invites questions that other recoveries never have to field.
That makes the practical work different. Sessions cover the specific situations that will arise, what to say, and how to hold a decision in rooms where everyone else is drinking. This is ordinary life rather than a controlled environment, which is precisely why outpatient treatment suits it.
What the programme involves
Twelve weeks of structured sessions: twice weekly through month one, weekly through months two and three. The work identifies the states and circumstances that precede drinking, builds practical alternatives, and rehearses them against real situations rather than hypothetical ones.
Family members can be involved where that would help, and an aftercare plan is built with you before the structured phase ends, with the same team throughout.

Common questions
Do I need to detox before starting?
Possibly. Alcohol withdrawal can carry serious physical risk at higher levels of dependency. Your assessment establishes whether supervised detox is needed first, and we help coordinate it.
Can I do this while working?
Yes. The outpatient structure is built around keeping your job and your routine, with sessions scheduled around your commitments.
What if I have tried to stop before?
Most people arriving here have. Previous attempts are useful information about what does and does not work for you, not evidence against you.
Is the programme available online?
Yes, in full, for clients anywhere in South Africa and internationally.
