Intervention Process

The conversation is often the hardest part. We help you prepare for it.

Recognising it's time

Many families reach out to Road2Recovery long before their loved one is ready to. If you're noticing the same patterns repeating, missed responsibilities, broken promises, a relationship that feels harder to reach into, that instinct is usually worth listening to.

How we support an intervention

An intervention isn't a confrontation, it's a structured, compassionate conversation, and it works best when it's planned. We help family members understand what to say, what to avoid, and how to respond if the conversation doesn't go the way anyone hoped the first time.

This usually starts with a private, no-obligation consultation with our team, so we can understand the situation and help you decide who should be involved, when, and how.

Before You Begin

Planning matters more than most people expect. How an intervention is approached has a direct, real effect on how the person responds, so it's worth thinking it through properly rather than improvising in the moment.

If you don't have experience with this, or something in you feels unsure you're the right person to lead it, trust that. It's telling you something worth listening to. You can absolutely bring someone else in to help, a professional, a sponsor, a trusted friend, but don't just hand the whole thing over. Hear what they plan to do first, then decide, because you know this person better than anyone else in the room, and that should shape the approach, not be set aside for it.

Otherwise, book a consultation below and we'll gladly help you plan it properly.

What happens next

If your loved one is open to support, we walk them straight into an assessment and, where appropriate, the structured 12-week programme. If they're not ready yet, we stay in contact with the family and revisit the approach when the time is right, recovery is rarely a single conversation.
